Playhouse Village Association devotes resources to maintain, repair, and replace elements of the public realm in the Village. In particular, we regularly pressure-wash sidewalks, clean streets and sidewalks, remove graffiti, water street trees, and remove trash. To help further beautify and unify the various streets and areas within Playhouse Village, we follow a streetscapes plan created especially for our district. Along with the City of Pasadena, we help implement and maintain elements such as lighting, benches, and others to make the pedestrian environment a more welcoming experience.

On June 24, 2020, the Playhouse Village Association Board of Directors unanimously adopted the Playhouse Village Streetscapes Plan, prepared by Pasadena firm Moule & Polyzoides. This ambitious effort is the culmination of several years of planning for the transformation of three critical streets in Playhouse Village. With the recent installation of street dining areas, the implementation of the vision for Colorado Boulevard is now underway, and efforts will not only focus on making these changes permanent, but on turning efforts to North Lake and Mentor avenues to demonstrate the possible contributions of enhanced streetscapes and transformed places to further our economic recovery. Thanks to all stakeholders, residents, and leaders who helped us get to this point, and stay in touch to learn about future implementation!

Banners

In concert with our rebranding to “Playhouse Village”, new street banners were unveiled in late February, 2020. The fresh brand identity and bold colors help provide a sense of place and arrival along Colorado Boulevard and North Lake Avenue.

Trash Receptacles

As a component of the district’s streetscapes plan, many of our trash receptacles date back 15 years and were in disrepair and, in some cases, unsafe. In January 2016, the Playhouse Village Association funded the replacement and cost-effective refurbishment of 33 trash receptacles along Colorado Boulevard, consistent with the existing designs.

Pet Waste Bag Dispensers

There are four pet waste bag dispensers, maintained and supplied by the Playhouse Village Ambassador Guides, located on: Green St. and Oak Knoll Ave., Green St. and Oakland Ave., Walnut St. and El Molino Ave., and Union Str. and El Molino Ave. As an amenity shared by the community, when using one, please be mindful of other pet owners and the dispensers themselves; and, of course, make sure to always pick up after your pet.
