Village Cares

Posted May 29, 2020, under Blog

A shining light during this challenging months is the many acts of kindness, compassion, and community shown across our Village and Pasadena. Many residents and businesses have extended their hand to raise funds to support local community causes, donated resources to help frontline workers, and delivered many nourishing meals as a sign of gratitude to medical workers. We’ve rounded a few ongoing efforts that you can be a part of. We are all in this together as we continue to show how our #VillageCares.

Food for First Responders with Pasadena Chamber of Commerce

Paul Little of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce was inspired by an article he read in the LA Times that shared about an effort in Oakland that supports local businesses and local essential workers, and thought this would be a great idea in Pasadena. The idea became Food for First Responders, which raises funds through their youth foundation to purchase meals from eateries in the Playhouse Village and Pasadena and delivers them directly to frontline staff. If you’re interested in participating, donate at pasadenayouthworks.org/node25. 100% of donations collected will be used to purchase and deliver fresh meals to local emergency rooms as well as first responders and those staffing Urgent Care Centers here in Pasadena.

Feed Our Heroes with The Stand

Stand up for healthcare heroes with The Stand and donate a meal for healthcare staff via their GoFundMe initiative. These meals will be delivered to local area hospitals and clinics, including Kaiser Permanente in Pasadena. Donations start at $10 and provides one meal for a healthcare hero and expands up to a max donation of $2,400, which covers one shift’s meals at a single hospital for two weeks. 100% of funds raised will be dedicated to providing The Stand to healthcare heroes, with a goal of donating over 1,000 meals per week.
