Pasadena Cheeseburger Week 2026

One hundred years ago, teenage Lionel Clark Sternberger placed a piece of cheese on a hamburger, christening it the Aristocratic Burger at the Rite Spot in Pasadena, CA. Fast forward to the present day, and restaurants throughout Pasadena pay homage to Lionel Sternberger’s genius with Cheeseburger Week, presented by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. This year, El Portal, The Stand, Urth Caffe, Tardinos Bros. Italian Kitchen and Yahaira’s Cafe are participating businesses located in Playhouse Village.

- Start at Yahaira’s or El Portal, known for their famous and amazingly delicious Zacatecas Burger made with a combination of beef and chorizo.
- Next, head down Green Street and up El Molino, across from the Pasadena Playhouse, you’ll find The Stand, the past winner of the Cheeseburger Challenge’s favorite burger. Try one of their delicious burgers on the patio and enjoy Southern California in the winter.
- Next, stop in at Urth Caffe on Colorado at Madison and try their delicious turkey burger.
- Finish your Cheeseburger Crawl by switching it up with something creative and unexpected. Stop by Tardino Bros. Italian Kitchen and try their Chili Cheeseburger Pizza, topped with mustard and pickles for a fun twist on the classic.
