Join Council Member Jason Lyon, on a twilight exploration of Pasadena’s Playhouse Village! Named for the Pasadena Playhouse, a renowned live theater venue since 1925, this area has been a cultural hub since the 1920s. It’s full of art installations, murals, and architecture representing a wide range of styles and time periods.
On this walking tour, you’ll learn about one of Pasadena’s first Art Deco buildings, the first parking structure in the city, and Southern California’s largest and oldest independent bookstore. We’ll talk about how the arts helped shape this district from its beginnings up to the present day, and how the village continues to support a vibrant, dynamic group of local artists and entrepreneurs.
We’ll end our tour with “Pasadena Agua Fresca” featuring hibiscus and rose water that will be provided complimentary to all attendees, courtesy of Anaya’s Restaurant.
Total walking distance will be approximately 1.5 miles.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and a light jacket (weather-dependent).
Please RSVP in advance so we have an idea of how many attendees to anticipate.
This event is a collaboration of Julia Long, Council Member Jason Lyon, and the Playhouse Village Association and is part of Walktober Pasadena 2023, made possible by the City of Pasadena Department of Transportation.
