Cheeseburger Week

Celebrate where it all began. Pasadena is the birthplace of the cheeseburger, first served in 1924 by Lionel Sternberger at the historic Rite Spot. His now-legendary Aristocratic Burger changed American food culture forever. During Cheeseburger Week 2026, running January 26–31, Pasadena dines in honor of this iconic culinary moment with a citywide Cheeseburger Crawl.
This year’s celebration also marks two major milestones: the centennial anniversary of Route 66, America’s Mother Road, and the 150th anniversary of Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena’s Main Street. For 2026, Cheeseburger Week expands beyond the burger itself, weaving in tributes to the road trips, diners, and local history that shaped Pasadena into the destination it is today.
