On the eve of her mother’s death, a woman takes a journey to the underworld, where she discovers the healing power of joy.
Both And… A Play About Laughing While Black is a brand new one-woman play, written and performed by Carolyn Ratteray. Through clowning and a tour-de-force performance, Ratteray weaves stories in which she meets her ancestors, remembers how to laugh, and learns some important things about what’s inside her mother’s purse.
This piece is a work-in-progress. Boston Court is delighted to share this virtual workshop with our audience. We hope you’ll join us on the exciting journey of developing art!
