The Pasadena Playhouse Historic District contains approximately 34 buildings, representing the eastward growth of the City’s urban core during the 1920s and 1930s after Pasadena’s economy transitioned from agriculture to tourism. During this period, Art Deco architecture gained popularity and was the chosen style for several commercial buildings in the District. This walking tour includes notable landmarks designed in this style, such as the Scottish Rite Temple, the United Artist Theater, and the Warner Building, along with many other significant buildings from the period along the route.
