HOCKET: COMPOSER/PERFORMER

OCT 30, 8PM

Sarah Gibson and Thomas Kotcheff, pianists

Hocket presents Composer/Performer, a program featuring newly written works performed and written by some of Los Angeles’s most exciting composer/performers.

It takes a unique ability to compose music and then perform it for the world. This intimate relationship between music and musician furthers the artist’s self-expression and deepens the audience’s understanding. Violinist Cornelius Dufallo once said, “you don’t really know a phrase until you really feel that you wrote it yourself.”

This concert is being presented for FREE as part of Boston Court’s commitment to make these awful 18 months just a little bit better.

THE PROGRAM

This program will feature the world premiere of two of these commissions by electric guitarist Alexander Elliott Miller and violinist Nick Bentz. Additionally the concert will feature works by Sarah GibsonThomas Kotcheff, and others.

This program is in conjunction with Hocket’s Composer/Performer Initiative, a biennial commissioning project focused on cultivating new trios from composer/performers to write pieces that feature the commissioned composers on their instruments, plus Hocket.
