Pasadena Walking Tours is kicking things off early with a Route 66 centennial celebration! In November 1926, Route 66 was established as part of the U.S. numbered highway system, connecting cities like Pasadena to destinations across the country. Stretching from Chicago to Los Angeles (and eventually Santa Monica), the “Mother Road” became a favorite for road trippers and a cultural icon featured in books, films, and music.
This guided experience explores a section of the “Main Street of America” along Colorado Boulevard. Beyond Route 66 lore, the tour dives into Pasadena’s car culture and the dealerships, manufacturers, and service stations that drove the city’s growth throughout the 20th century and into today.
