The holiday season comes alive in Playhouse Village with a vibrant lineup of music performances sure to inspire joy and festive cheer. From choral masterpieces to intimate acoustic sets, these events at Playhouse Village local businesses and cultural venues showcase the magic of live music and the warmth of community during this special time of year.

Start your holidays by joining El Portal for a reception, dinner, and entertainment! Hispanics for LA Opera and the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program present Suzanna Guzmán, Gabrielle Turgeon, Vinicius Costa, and pianist Julian Garvue special holiday performance in the El Portal courtyard. Once again all of Pasadena Presbyterian Church’s resident choirs collaborate on this annual “Pasadena Holiday Tradition for the Whole Family,” offering fresh performances of familiar Christmas music, as well as newly-composed pieces. Serving as a thrilling kickoff to the Christmas season for many, this year’s program features sacred and secular music composed or arranged by Dan Forrest, Marques L.A. Garrett, Elaine Hagenberg, Mark Sirett, and Sir Karl Jenkins, among others. This concert is free admission, but a voluntary offering is welcome. Grammy Award-winning Los Angeles Children’s Chorus rings in the holidays with its annual winter concert “Celebrating Joy,” with back-to-back performances in Playhouse Village. On Saturday, December 7, the Apprentice Choir, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Chorale will perform at First United Methodist Church, delivering an inspiring evening of festive music. The celebration continues on Sunday, December 8, at Pasadena Presbyterian Church, where the Intermediate Choir, Concert Choir, and Young Men’s Ensemble will delight audiences with their captivating melodies. Amanda McBroom’s Wintersong at Boston Court

Join Vroman’s for Holiday Music with the woodwind quintet, Gone With the Winds (1:30pm – 2:30pm) and the trombone quartet, The Sliders (2:30pm – 3:30pm)!  Gone With the Winds are a classically trained Woodwind Quintet (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, French Horn, Bassoon) playing a seasonal program of Holiday music and Christmas Carols. The Sliders are four slide trombone aficionados from across the greater Los Angeles area that would gladly play Tuesday, for a hamburger today.
