Silk Road

The USC Pacific Asia Museum invites the community to its fourth annual celebration of the Silk Road, spotlighting the vibrant history of food and spice trade along this ancient route. Attendees can look forward to crafting unique food sculptures, painting with spices, enjoying traditional Chinese dance and music, listening to captivating stories, and experiencing the rich history of tea in a special tasting workshop. Visitors are encouraged to explore the Crossroads: Exploring the Silk Road Gallery and immerse themselves in the special exhibition Cai Guo-Qiang: A Material Odyssey for a journey through art and history.

Free admission all day for all ages!

 

Schedule of Activities:

 

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Food Sculpture with Barnsdall Arts

11:00 am – 3:00 pm – Painting with Spices

12:00 pm – Storytime

12:30 pm – Performance by USC Traditional Chinese Dance and USC Eastern Chamber Music Club

1:30 pm – Tea Workshop with Callisto Tea House 

2:30 pm –  Spotlight Talk with USC Museums Student Educators

Timed tickets are required for entrance into the exhibition. 60-minute time slots offered. Reservations are highly recommended. Limited same-day tickets are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

A ticket to Cai: Guo-Qiang: A Material Odyssey includes access to all galleries and activities. Your ticket gives you access to enter the exhibition at your reserved time, but you may enter the museum for activities before your reserved time.
