National Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latinx Americans. Join the celebration at an exciting event and activity honoring this month or by supporting Hispanic and Latinx-owned businesses here in the Village.

 

A Million Miles Away

The Brehm Film Center is hosting a free advanced screening of A Million Miles Away at Pasadena’s Landmark Theatre. Based on the true story of Jose Hernandez, the first migrant farmworker to travel to space. A tale of perseverance, community, and sacrifice to accomplish an impossible dream. Starring, Michael Peña and is directed by Alejandra Márquez Abella. Be sure to RSVP for tickets.

 

 

23rd Annual Tequila Tasting

Mexican Independence Day

Celebrate Mexican Independence Day at El Portal! This exclusive event will feature a delightful drink menu, including signature “El Alcarde” margaritas, expertly crafted by guest mixologist, Mayor Victor Gordo. The Mayor will lead a special El Grito Ceremony, accompanied by live Mariachi music, and an exciting rendition of the Mexican National Anthem. City of Pasadena Latino Heritage Parade

Starts at Los Robles Ave & Buckeye St and Ends at City Hall

Celebrate the 25^th Annual Pasadena Latino Heritage Parade and Festival with the City of Pasadena Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the Pasadena Latino Heritage Parade and Festival Committee. The parade and festival have showcased Latino history and culture through its mission to promote and provide educational cultural programs to Pasadena residents and surrounding cities. This year’s theme, “Reaching for the Stars,” recognizes the achievements of Latinos in the United States. Hispanic Heritage Wine Festival

Hispanic Architectural Influence in Shaping Pasadena’s Cityscape

Pasadena Heritage commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month with a free program. The early 20th Century saw the birth of the Spanish Colonial Revival style in Southern California. Presenter and Board Member Dave Nufer will examine the many notable Spanish Colonial Revival style buildings in Pasadena including City Hall, the Central Library, the Pasadena Playhouse, and the historic Caltech campus. A study of Pasadena’s recent Hispanic-influenced projects, such as the Del Mar Station complex and the Paseo, will be included as well. Join Pasadena Heritage as they trace the thousand-year development of Spanish architecture from its Moorish roots to its revival and prominence in Pasadena! Advanced registration is required so be sure to RSVP on Eventbrite. Admission is free, but donations are both welcomed and appreciated
