SUMMARY:FUMC: Summer Musical: 42nd Street
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, the 51st First United Methodist Church Summer Musical production will be 42nd Street.  Featuring an intergenerational cast of over 50 performers singing and dancing their hearts out to a live orchestra.  Cast and musicians come from the local community and you’ll see performers aged 2 to 72. This event has free parking accessible from Green Street. The shows are FREE but FUMC will take donations of peanut butter and tuna for the food bank. FUMC also offers a ticketed dinner before the show for $20 per person which must be reserved and paid in advance.  For more information on dinner service\, call 626-796-0157.  *Dinner begins serving at 5:30 pm. \n  \n  \n  \n

Join us for excellent music performed in First United Methodist Church’s historic sanctuary in the Pasadena Playhouse district. \nJoy of Chamber Music – LA Phil Musicians and Junko Ueno Garrett “Women Composers”\nTo commemorate Clara Schumann’s passing (September 13\, 1819 – May 20\, 1896)\, this program is dedicated to women composers. Regarded as one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era\, Clara exerted her influence over the course of a 61-year concert career. Amy Beach (1867 – 1944) was the first successful American female composer of large-scale art music. She was one of the first American composers to succeed without the benefit of European training.

The choir has won numerous awards\, including CHOIR OF THE WORLD in the Welsh Isteddfod and First Place Choir in the Spital International Choir Festival in Austria.

SUMMARY:FUMC: Third@First Concerts
DESCRIPTION:The Third at First Concert Series offers a place to hear excellent musicians perform on the third Saturday of each month\, October through July.  Founded in 2014 by Junko Ueno Garrett and the church’s former music director\, Sébastien Vallée\, the series presents world-class musical artists\, the church’s resident ensembles and exciting local performers in downtown Pasadena.  The musical offerings range from intimate piano and chamber music recitals to jazz to full-scale orchestra-choral works.  All concerts are offered free of admission charge.  Generous supporters of fine music make this possible as church funds are not used to support the series. \nFirst United Methodist Church of Pasadena is located east of Old Pasadena in the Playhouse District and serves people from throughout the city\, neighboring communities and the surrounding San Gabriel Valley. \nAll Third@First concerts are free\, however\, a freewill offering will be taken to cover costs.
