He has created and cared for Bonsai in Australia\, the UK and the US. \nThis month we dive into learning about a juniper. You’ll repot\, trim and wire your own Japanese garden juniper! Part of our ongoing Bonsai series\, Daniel will take you through the process of creating and caring for your very own Bonsai. We provide all the supplies you need\, you bring your enthusiasm and willingness to learn. We can’t wait to meet you. \nDaniel brings more than 40 years experience\, across Australia\, the UK and the US\, in the cultivation and care of Bonsai. He fell in love with the art when his Oma (grandmother) Elizabeth Deephouse introduced him to it when he was eight. He loves to share his passion with anyone interested in learning. Daniel currently volunteers to help maintain the Bonsai collection at the Huntington Gardens and the Lake Balboa Japanese Garden. He also tends to private collections in the Los Angeles area and styles private trees. DESCRIPTION:Before 1862\, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain had rarely left his home state of Maine\, where he was a trained minister and mild-mannered professor at Bowdoin College. His colleagues were shocked when he volunteered for the Union army\, but he was undeterred and later became known as one of the North’s greatest heroes: On the second day at Gettysburg\, after running out of ammunition at Little Round Top\, he ordered his men to wield their bayonets in a desperate charge down a rocky slope that routed the Confederate attackers. In 2019\, an ill-conceived law spear-headed by a sycophantic leader pushed millions to take to the streets in one of the most enduring protest movements the world has ever seen. Xi Jinping responded with a draconian national security law that sought not only to end the demonstrations but quash the “problem” of Hong Kongers’ identity and desire for freedom. \nReverend Chu\, who believed Hong Kong had to carry the spirit of students at Tiananmen Square\, saw his silver-haired comrades who birthed the city’s modern pro-democracy movement handcuffed and taken from their homes. Tommy\, an art student radicalized into throwing Molotov cocktails\, watched “braves” like him brutalized by police before his own arrest prompted him to flee. Finn epitomized the decentralized nature of the movement and its internet-fueled victories\, but online anonymity couldn’t stop his life from unravelling.
