DESCRIPTION:K-12 educators are invited to explore ways of integrating art and culture into their Ethnic Studies curriculum and multicultural instruction. In celebration of AAPI Heritage and Jewish American Heritage Month\, hear from renowned educator and activist\, Liz Kleinrock\, as she demonstrates her inquiry-based strategy for leading critical dialogues with students and shares how her personal\, intersectional identities influence her anti-bias and antiracist teaching practice. \nThis program includes art-integrated lesson demonstrations and workshops by museum educators\, gallery conversations\, resource presentations\, refreshments\, and more! USC PAM is proud to partner with the Skirball Cultural Center\, the USC Shoah Foundation\, and Facing History and Ourselves\, to give teachers a one-of-a-kind learning experience with tools that can directly be applied in their classrooms. \nThe ticket includes all activities\, museum admission\, food\, and complimentary parking. The full program schedule will be shared closer to the event date. \nSalary point credit is available to Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) teachers. All other teachers should inquire with their districts about credit. \n*ASL translation provided upon request. \n*Scholarship available upon request. \nAbout Keynote Speaker: \nLiz Kleinrock (she/her) is an award-winning educator and bestselling author\, as well as a Korean-American transracial adoptee\, queer\, Jewish woman. She is the owner/coordinator of the Ikebana Lessons shows and exhibitions. \nIn 2023\, the Ikebana Lessons Group exhibited at the Sherman Library and Gardens in Corona Del Mar and at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad to more than 17\,000 visitors. \nThe Ikebana Lessons arrangements are inspired by Mokichi Okada’s style and philosophy which gives guidance on how to make arrangements that retain their life forces and are an expression of nature.
