Then stick around to explore the special exhibition\, Imprinting in Time – Chinese Printmaking at the Beginning of a New Era\, which surveys printmaking by Chinese artists from the 1980s to the present\, examining the unique narrative of the medium within the contexts of cultural\, academic\, sociopolitical\, and economic changes in recent Chinese history. \nGallery Viewing  \n6:00-10:00 PM \nStorytelling with Barbara Wong  \n6:30 PM \n7:30 PM \n8:30 PM \n9:30 PM \nNo registration is required. DESCRIPTION:Explore the ancient art of block printing with Los Angeles-based artist Stephanie Mercado. Block printing is a versatile medium that can be used to create decorative patterns\, collage elements\, or multilayered artworks. Block prints can be printed on various surfaces including paper and textiles. Learn how to transfer images to a carving block\, carving techniques\, and ways to use block printing as creative self-expression. No prior experience is necessary. \nMaterials included \nTickets include complimentary admission to the museum. \nMore About the Artist: \nStephanie Mercado is an interdisciplinary artist born and raised in Boyle Heights\, Los Angeles. Her artwork is centered on the workforce\, manual labor\, and empowerment. Her imagery is eclectic\, inspired by lived experiences\, cultural references\, and the fusion of traditional printmaking with experimental practices. Mercado’s print-based collages are composed of relief carvings printed on handmade colored papers.
