Experienced Wikipedia editors will be available to guide the process; all skill levels are welcome. \n\n\nBring your laptop – Wi-Fi will be available. \n\n\nSign up for a Wikipedia account in advance to avoid registration issues. \n\n\nBring your own photos of properties lost or damaged to help expand the historical record \n\n\nThe recent fires have left us all in shock\, altering landscapes and communities in ways that are difficult to comprehend. In response\, we invite you to join us for a public Wikipedia edit-a-thon—a space for remembrance\, healing\, and action. \nWikipedia is many people’s first stop for information\, and as a platform built by and for everyday people across the globe\, it provides an opportunity for us to collectively document and preserve what was lost. DESCRIPTION:A perfect complement to July’s Art Deco walking tour\, we are offering a special presentation on Automobiles & the Art Deco Era in Pasadena. Presenters will include John Dean\, Pasadena Heritage Board Member\, and John Roth\, a former docent and presenter from the recently-closed Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard\, California. An expert on Art Deco-designed automobiles from the 1920s to 1940s\, Roth will present on the automobile history in Pasadena and the unique attributes of the West Coast that shaped our transportation history and spurred the growth of the automobile industry in Pasadena. \nPasadena has a rich automobile history and several notable landmarks related to Pasadena’s car culture are still present today along Green Street and Colorado Boulevard. Join us for a lecture on the elements of Art Deco and Streamline Modern design in architecture and beyond\, and how these design elements carried over into everything from household appliances to automobiles! \nYou are invited to join us in person or virutally for this special program! The lecture will be livestreamed via Zoom and a recording will be made available to ticket holders shortly after the event.

They have been featured at several community meetings and events so far\, and have added new sites to their interactive map of user-generated sites.

SUMMARY:Pasadena Heritage: Playhouse District Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Pasadena\, settled by a group of farmers from Indiana in the 1870s\, originally developed along the Arroyo Seco. The Pasadena Playhouse Historic District contains approximately 34 buildings\, which represent the eastward growth of the City’s urban core during the 1920s and 1930s\, after Pasadena’s economy had changed from agriculture to tourism. Development of this area was spurred by the construction of Pasadena’s grand and imposing Civic Center in the 1920s\, prompting the construction of residential\, religious and cultural facilities. This walking tour will feature a variety of architectural styles and several of the district’s most notable landmarks including its namesake\, the Pasadena Playhouse! \nTours last approximately 1.5 hours with a walking distance of approximately 1 mile. For the comfort of all our guests\, dogs are not permitted on Pasadena Heritage walking tours. \nOur next traditional Pasadena Playhouse District Walking Tour will be on Saturday\, October 5th. Can’t wait until October? Join us on Saturday\, July 6th for a special Playhouse District Walking Tour focused on its Art Deco architecture!

DESCRIPTION:Tour multiple historic sites once designed by pioneer landscape architects including Bullock’s Pasadena (now Macy’s Pasadena Plaza on Lake Ave.)\, the Caltech campus\, and the historic Mutual Savings and Loan Building in Pasadena\, as well as the Old Mill in San Marino. Our experienced docents will be on site to provide information on these historic places and spaces and the women who shaped them! The tour includes interior stops at the Old Mill and Bullock’s Pasadena (now Macy’s). Special thanks to the Old Mill Foundation and Macy’s Pasadena Plaza on Lake Avenue for welcoming our guests. \nPlease note\, this tour ticket does not include the special members-only stop from 10:00 AM to noon.

DESCRIPTION:Since 1995\, the California Garden & Landscape History Society (CGLHS) has promoted the preservation and restoration of California’s historic landscapes and gardens. Its quarterly journal\, Eden\, highlights the exceptional work of the female landscape architects that worked in and around Pasadena including Beatrix Farrand\, Helen Dupuy Van Pelt\, Katherine Bashford\, Ruth Shellhorn\, Florence Yoch & Lucile Council\, and Lucia Fox Edwards. Join us for this special presentation by a CGLHS Board Member on their impressive Eden archive\, and the lasting legacy of these pioneer landscape architects. \nThis is a hybrid presentation and will be available both in-person and via Zoom. The in-person lecture will take place at the historic Blinn House. A recording of the lecture will be shared with all event attendees.
