Join us for excellent music performed in First United Methodist Church’s historic sanctuary in the Pasadena Playhouse district. \nJoy of Chamber Music – LA Phil Musicians and Junko Ueno Garrett “Women Composers”\nTo commemorate Clara Schumann’s passing (September 13\, 1819 – May 20\, 1896)\, this program is dedicated to women composers. Regarded as one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era\, Clara exerted her influence over the course of a 61-year concert career. Amy Beach (1867 – 1944) was the first successful American female composer of large-scale art music. She was one of the first American composers to succeed without the benefit of European training.
