DESCRIPTION:USC Pacific Asia Museum is proud to host Tibetan monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery in South India. They will spend four days creating a Sand Mandala\, a Tibetan Buddhist tradition that involves the creation and destruction of paintings made using colored sand. We can’t wait to meet you. \nDaniel brings more than 40 years experience\, across Australia\, the UK and the US\, in the cultivation and care of Bonsai. He fell in love with the art when his Oma (grandmother) Elizabeth Deephouse introduced him to it when he was eight. He loves to share his passion with anyone interested in learning. Daniel currently volunteers to help maintain the Bonsai collection at the Huntington Gardens and the Lake Balboa Japanese Garden. DESCRIPTION:Southern California Children’s Museum’s Fall Process Art class is a 6-week child-led exploration into the discovery and creation process of art-making with autumnal themes for children 3-6 years old. We will use natural materials like leaves\, seasonal produce\, spices\, natural dye\, and more to create with the senses. Process art celebrates the creation process rather than a product and allows children to experiment with confidence. This class will enhance fine motor skills\, vocabulary\, sensory exploration\, and creative expression. The Fall Process Art class will take place on Wednesdays from 3:00 PM- 4:00 PM. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Stay-And-Play all-day museum admission is offered at a discounted $8/day per person. Drop-ins are welcome for $35/class. DESCRIPTION:Comics can be like a series of postcards and scrapbook photos that tell a story! \nUsing no-frills\, low tech tools (i.e. pencils\, paper\, and maybe few pens)\, Vroman’s own Mr. Steve will lead you on a trip back in time to the 90s zine scene\, where you’ll create a 4-page mini-comic! \nWhen Mr. Steve isn’t reading stories at Storytime\, or selling books for Vroman’s Bookstore\, he’s writing and editing comics for indie publisher Antarctic Press. \nPlease make a reservation: rsvp@vromansbookstore.com
